Henderson Settlement was founded in 1925 in Frakes, Kentucky by the Methodist Church. A school and church were established in an effort to build community in an area of poverty and violence. With local and regional support, there are now ministries in family assistance, new mother support, education, fellowship, a thrift store, a craft store, youth activities, and agriculture.

Tryon United Methodist Church gives financial support to Henderson Settlement with a love offering at the communion rail on the first Sunday of each month.
