New and Improved for 2022

Feed A Family
A Polk County Summer Food Program

Tryon UMC is one of seven churches in Polk County who will, again, partner with Outreach in Columbus, NC to help feed school children over a ten-week period throughout the summer. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to be the people God calls us to be. Our church volunteers will see many improvements which have been put in place this summer each designed to better serve the Polk County families and to create a more positive experience for church volunteers. As we get closer to summer, please watch for additional bulletin announcements on the various ways our congregation can participate in this worthwhile community partnership.

Feed A Kid is a partnership program in Polk County that seeks to provide nutritional food and easy to make meals to children and families in need during the ten weeks-June 15th through August 18th when school is not in session. Tryon UMC is one of the seven participating area churches in cooperation with Outreach doing its part to help eliminate hunger and food insecurity in Polk County.

HOW YOU CAN HELP NOW
Pray for the success of this program. It is a collaboration of time and talents by volunteers who desire to practice true generosity without expectation in their planning, packing, and delivering bags of food.

Each of the seven churches has been asked to contribute $1500.00           Please prayerfully consider making a donation to help Tryon UMC meet its goal.  Your check should be made payable to “Tryon UMC” with “Feed A Kid 2022” written on the memo line.

UPCOMING WAYS YOU CAN HELP

Watch for our bulletin announcements and emails in the next few weeks asking for help in the following ways:
Help pack the food into bags. This is done each WEDNESDAY from 10 AM -12 PM.  Churches will collaborate this summer to provide eight volunteers each week. It’s a great way to meet new people from the participating churches.

Have a larger car? You can help deliver the bags of food. This will be done on THURSDAYS from 10:00 AM-12 PM
